Understanding Autism is a way of understanding the child that you have. It should not be the will to "change" the child or the drive to make him "normal". Tune into him. Figure out what he sees, what he hears, what he feels. Your child perceives the world differently and it is your job to accept that and to love him as he is first, and then to help him acquire skills to live successfully in this world.
